Tottenham mooted as a potential destination for PSG star

Milan Skriniar has fallen considerably down Luis Enrique’s pecking order at Paris Saint-Germain, with the centre-back even being left out of the matchday squad on a couple of occasions this season.

It was reported last week that the 29-year-old has made up his mind to leave Paris in January, with Spurs suggested as a potential destination.

The report claimed that a move to Tottenham seems the most ‘credible’ of all the options that the defender has as his entourage looks around Europe for a side that can match his current salary.

Spurs can sign Milan Skriniar for a cut-price deal

CaughtOffside are now also reporting that Skriniar wants to leave the French capital in January, and they too name Tottenham as one of the contenders to land the player.

They reveal that PSG are hoping to get €35m (£29m) for the centre-back but the fee can be negotiated down to as little as €25m (£20.7m) during talks.

The report adds that Spurs see the Slovak international as ‘an important defensive support’ for both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, with Ange Postecoglou thought to see him as a squad option rather than as a guaranteed starter.

Tottenham face an uphill battle to land Skriniar

However, CaughtOffside make it clear that Spurs are not the only ones after the PSG star, who is also of interest to Newcastle United.

The likes of Napoli, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Roma, Al Nassr and Atletico Madrid are also said to be circling over Skriniar.

Further, it is explained that many of these clubs would be willing to offer the former Inter Milan man a regular starting birth, thus complicating Tottenham’s pursuit.
