Tottenham could receive cash boost as Everton and Leeds monitor former player

Two Premier League clubs are eyeing a move for a Tottenham academy graduate, and the North London club stand to benefit financially from the transfer.

The main talking point among Tottenham fans on social media through the international break has not been the performances of their own players, but rather the impressive displays of a former Spurs man.

Troy Parrott netted a hat-trick against Hungary on Sunday to ensure that the Republic of Ireland secured passage to the playoffs for the World Cup.

The striker has been prolific in front of goal for both club and country this season, which has got many Tottenham supporters to wonder if the club made a mistake by selling the striker to AZ Alkmaar for just £6.7m last year.

Everton and Leeds United are closely watching Tottenham academy graduate Troy Parrott

It is now being reported by Everton News that the former Spurs man is on Everton’s radar ahead of the January transfer window.

The report says that the Toffees are fans of the 23-year-old and have watched him closely from the start of the season.

Scouts from the Merseyside club were also said to be in attendance in Budapest on Sunday to watch Parrott score a hat-trick against Hungary.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk reports that the former Tottenham man is also on the wishlist of Leeds United.

It is explained that Daniel Farke’s men seriously considered a move for Parrott in the summer and are continuing to keep an eye on the striker’s progress ahead of the January window.

If Everton or Leeds do land the centre-forward in January, the North Londoners will stand to benefit, as Tottenham have a 20 per cent sell-on clause on Parrott.

Should Spurs consider buying Parrott back?

Everton and Leeds are far from the only clubs watching the former Tottenham man, with reports indicating that Parrott is on the radars of clubs across Europe.

It has been widely reported over recent months that Spurs want to add a number nine to their squad in January, given the injury issues they have had up front.

Given Tottenham’s shortage of club-trained and homegrown players, the club may give serious thought to re-signing the Irishman.
