Tottenham could sign a new left-back this summer under one condition – Journalist reports

The Daily Mail reporter Sami Mokbel has claimed that Tottenham could enter the market for a left-back this summer if Ivan Perisic leaves the club.

Alasdair Gold explained in his column for Football.London at the start of last week that while Tottenham are expected to make wholesale changes at centre-back, the general feeling at the club is that there are adequate full-back options in the squad for Ange Posteoclgou to work with.

The journalist asserted that Perisic is expected to be sold just a year on from signing for the club while Ryan Sessegnon could also be offloaded, potentially on loan, with Ben Davies thus set to compete with Destiny Udogie for the left-back spot.

Gold is not the only journalist to suggest that Perisic is on his way out, with Charlie Eccleshare also stating in his column for The Athletic last week that the Croat will be let go this summer.

Tottenham could look for a new left-back soon

Mokbel has now asserted on the Last World On Spurs YouTube channel that should the 34-year-old be sold by Tottenham, the North London club could sign a replacement this summer.

The decision on whether to sign a left-back could depend on Postecoglou’s assessment of Udogie and Sessegnon in pre-season.

Udogie looks equipped to play as an inverted full-back and I expect the Italian to compete with Davies for the left-back spot during the upcoming season.
