Tottenham Hotspur will be interested in the latest developments at River Plate regarding Ian Subiabre after expressing an interest in the teenage starlet.
Spurs have shown with their acquisition of Souza in January (and previously Alejo Veliz) that they are keeping a close eye on the best emerging talents from South America.
It was previously reported that Ian Subiabre is on Tottenham’s radar, and some sources had even claimed Spurs are ready to accelerate their move for the Argentine winger.
The Lilywhites were allegedly battling London rivals Chelsea for the 19-year-old, whose future is now up in the air following the latest developments at his club.
River Plate ready to sell Tottenham target Ian Subiabre after huge fallout
According to El Intransigente, the Tottenham target’s relationship with River Plate has now completely broken down over recent months.
Subiabre has been asked to train away from the first-team squad since the start of this month, and his days at the club are now numbered.
This was after the youngster took part in an ‘intercountry’ tournament despite being under contract with River, which did not go down well with the Argentine club’s hierarchy.
The club have decided to part ways with the winger, whose representatives are now working to find him a new team.
MLS club are advancing over a deal for Subiabre
El Intransigente say that Major League Soccer side DC United have now begun talks with River Plate over a deal for the 19-year-old winger.
River are demanding €6.8m (£5.9m) to sanction the sale of the academy graduate, with the player willing to move to the United States to continue his career.
Danish side Midtjylland have also shown ‘concrete interest’ in Subiabre, but a move to Denmark does not appeal to the Argentina U20 international.
