While Cristian Romero’s injury comes as a blow for Tottenham ahead of their Champions League clash against Bodo/Glimt, it could prove a blessing in disguise for Thomas Frank’s men.
Romero has not travelled with the Spurs squad to Norway, with Thomas Frank confirming that the Argentine has been left out as a precaution.
It is a blow for the Lilywhites, particularly considering the outstanding showing that he delivered on the club’s last visit to the Aspmyra Stadion back in May, where Spurs kept a clean sheet and scored two goals.
Frank has admitted that Tottenham will face unique challenges on Bodo/Glimt’s artificial surface, and while the Dane would have ideally wanted the Argentine fit, there may be one benefit to his exclusion.

Kevin Danso may be exactly what Tottenham need against Bodo/Glimt
Unlike typical European fixtures, Tottenham can expect a physical game against the Norwegian side, who are not shy of going direct.
Kevin Danso’s addition to the Spurs backline might thus be a blessing in disguise, with the Austrian being extremely dominant aerially and in duals.
While Tottenham will miss Romero’s passing from the back, Danso adds a new dimension to the Lilywhites’ attack with his long throws.
The 27-year-old has proven to be a wonderful exponent of long throws, and that may be a crucial weapon for Spurs against Bodo/Glimt.
Cristian Romero could do with the rest
Frank has spoken about the importance of managing player workload to avoid another injury crisis at Tottenham, but he has not rotated his backline too much.
This forced rest for Romero might just be what the centre-back needs to avoid a potential serious muscle injury through accumulated fatigue.
With Tottenham’s schedule getting extremely busy over the next month and some big games coming up, this is perhaps one game that they could manage without their captain.
