Tottenham dream of Serie A ‘statement signing’ but there is a big problem

Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to dream of securing one of the Serie A’s most highly-rated young attackers, but the feeling in Italy is very different.

Tottenham have a long list of wingers that they are looking at as they remain determined to bolster their forward line.

Among those names, it was suggested that Kenan Yildiz had been identified as the ‘dream signing’ for Spurs, with the Turk rated very highly at the North London club.

However, news broke last week that Yildiz may be on the verge of signing a new deal with Juventus, which came as a massive blow for the Lilywhites.

Tottenham continue to circle over Kenan Yildiz amidst contract standoff

TEAMtalk have now suggested that Tottenham have shown the most interest in the 20-year-old, who is allegedly viewed by Spurs as a potential ‘statement signing.’

The report says that Yildiz’s proposed new deal has still not been wrapped up in Turin and that no significant progress has been made over the last few weeks.

This has given Tottenham and other Premier League clubs hopes of poaching the Turkey international, but Juventus insiders are playing down the possibility of a January departure.

In fact, sources inside the Bianconeri have poured cold water over suggestions that a move to England is on the cards for the winger.

What Juventus expect regarding Yildiz’s contract

TEAMtalk say that Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are also showing varying levels of interest in Yildiz as his contract situation continues to remain up in the air.

However, Juve officials are insisting that there are ‘no major issues’ in the negotiations with the youngster’s entourage and that the delay in reaching an agreement should not be interpreted as a sign that the player is available.

Internally, it is viewed as a ‘straightforward delay’, with the Serie A club expecting a contract for Yildiz to be finalised, even if a full agreement is not reached before the end of this month.
