Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be on the hunt for a new striker this summer having still yet to fill the void left by Harry Kane.

Tottenham were interested in Dominic Solanke
Tottenham Hotspur have now decided against making a move for Dominic Solanke since the striker’s release clause is too high, GiveMeSport have reported.
The report confirms what we have heard from other sources over recent weeks by stating that Solanke was one of the options on Tottenham’s radar as Ange Postecoglou aims to add a top-class number nine to his squad.
It is revealed that Spurs are not the only Premier League club who admire the Bournemouth star, with Arsenal and Newcastle said to be fans of the player.
However, it is explained that the Bees would want Solanke’s £65m release clause to be paid to let him go and this fee is considered ‘too high’ for the North London club.

Spurs will not pay huge price tag for Solanke this summer
So as things stand, it is alleged that Tottenham do not have any plans to make an offer for the England international.
The publication adds that the Lilywhites may instead push ahead with a move for Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez or Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri.
Spurs currently have the likes of Richarlison, Heung-min Son, Dane Scarlett and Troy Parrott who can all play in the number nine position, but may look to invest there more this summer.
Solanke scored 21 goals across all competitions for Bournemouth last season in 21 appearances and chipped in with four assists (transfermarkt).

Solanke has essentially had just one outstanding season at the highest level and he would need to replicate the same form over another six months or a full season to convince clubs the top clubs to meet his £65m release clause.
He has yet to prove himself as a consistently prolific forward at the very top level and with such a hefty price tag, it poses a substantial risk.
I would much rather Spurs went for Ivan Toney, who is more proven at this level and will likely cost less money with other big clubs seemingly not overly eager to sign him.
Toney’s lack of goals towards the end of last season will likely have seen some teams lower their interest in the England international after he struggled to put the ball in the back of the net.
One thing is absolutely crystal clear, Tottenham need a striker who can score 15+ goals a season if they are to push for a top four finish. Richarlison’s injury record renders him unreliable and Son simply is not suited to the central role.
