A former Tottenham scout has now revealed that Aston Villa have set their sights on a prolific forward wanted by Spurs.
It has been widely reported that Spurs are keen to add a number nine to their squad in January despite the fact that Thomas Frank has Randal Kolo Muani, Richarlison, Mathys Tel and Dominic Solanke at his disposal.
One striker, who is turning a lot of heads with his displays in the Premier League, is thought to have caught Spurs’ attention.
It has been reported that Tottenham are eyeing a move for Brentford star Igor Thiago, who has stepped up to fill the void left by Bryan Mbeumo’s departure from Brentford in the summer.

Aston Villa could challenge Tottenham for Igor Thiago’s signature
Thiago is second only to Erling Haaland in the race for the Premier League golden boot, with 11 strikes in 14 league matches this season.
However, former Tottenham scout Micky Brown, who has also served as a scout at Aston Villa, has revealed that the Villans have also set their sights on the Bees star ahead of January.
Brown told Football Insider: “Aston Villa want to sign a new striker in January. The problem is, there aren’t many strikers available, and the ones that are cost big money.
“They’re looking at a few options to figure out who could be available for them, but it’s not easy because there aren’t many at the top level who would be available.
“One who is on their list is the Brentford striker, Thiago, because he’s had a very good start. He’s somebody who is going to have grabbed the attention of a number of clubs because of his current form; there will be a number of clubs looking at him.”
Spurs will have to spend big to land Thiago
It is not just Villa that the Lilywhites have to be worried about in the race for the Brentford star. It was previously reported that Newcastle could also challenge Spurs for Thiago’s services in January.
Kieth Andrews issued a hands-off warning to Spurs and Thiago’s other suitors, insisting that the Brazilian is going ‘nowhere’, and Brown believes that it would take a huge offer to convince the West London club to sell the striker.
The former Tottenham scout added: “The problem is, from a Brentford point of view, they’re not going to want to let him go. He’s playing well, scoring goals, and he’s a big part of the way they play so he’s going to cost a big fee if anybody wants to get him out of Brentford.”
