Tottenham face competition from two big rivals to land Marc Guehi transfer

Tottenham have not given up on signing Marc Guehi, but the race for his signature is heating up fast, and the Lilywhites could find themselves in a real tug of war this summer.

Given how poorly Tottenham Hotspur’s season has gone this campaign, there is a strong expectation that the Lilywhites will be busy in the summer window.

It has been widely reported that Spurs had a £70m offer turned down for Marc Guehi during the January transfer window, and now the club is being tipped to return with another attempt to sign the Crystal Palace defender.

The 24-year-old centre-back enters the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park this June, and Spurs are said to have made Guehi one of their top priorities going into the summer.

Tottenham still keen on Marc Guehi transfer despite Chelsea and Newcastle interest

Cristian Romero’s future remains uncertain. The Argentine centre-back is said to be eyeing a move away from Tottenham this summer, and this has led to reports in recent weeks suggesting that Tottenham view Marc Guehi as the ideal replacement for Cristian Romero.

Those reports have now been echoed by Fabrizio Romano, who says Tottenham remain interested in bringing the England international to north London.

However, the journalist has also stated that Spurs are not alone in their pursuit. Chelsea and Newcastle are said to be tracking Guehi closely, having monitored the player for months.

Romano also mentioned another intriguing detail – there’s a chance Guehi could run down his deal and leave on a free transfer in 2026 if no agreement is reached this summer.

Liverpool join race for Spurs target Guehi amid Cristian Romero uncertainty

It was also reported recently that Liverpool made an enquiry about Marc Guehi last summer but opted against a move at the time. However, it has since been said that the Reds are now considered firm contenders for the defender’s signature.

With Cristian Romero potentially on the move, Spurs are naturally expected to be linked with several centre-backs over the coming months.

Given that Tottenham made a deadline day move for Marc Guehi in January, it’s not surprising to see his name resurface as a top target. But with some of England’s biggest clubs circling, this could turn into a proper battle.
