Tottenham face pitch inspection before Champions League match can go ahead

Tottenham Hotspur started their week of hell with a one nil defeat to Manchester City on Monday evening at Wembley.

This marked the first of four games in eight days for the Lilywhites, with fixtures against West Ham, Wolves and PSV to come.

The Wembley turf was a little battered to say the least during the City match, as a big NFL game was played on it just 24 hours before.

In actual fact, three NFL games have been played on the national stadium turf in the past few weeks.

Due to the awful state of the pitch, UEFA will carry out inspections over Wembley before the PSV Champions League tie is allowed to go ahead, according to a SkySports report.

According to Goal, the pitch will be inspected on Monday but not relaid.

Tottenham must win the match against PSV to keep their slim Champions League survival hopes alive.

Spurs must also win games against Inter Milan and Barcelona, while praying for Inter to drop points along the way if they are to qualify.
