Liverpool fans have been duped by a fake tweet sent by a Tottenham Hotspur supporter – making them believe they were signing Argentina and Juventus star Paulo Dybala.
@THFC_99, posted a link to a BBC article and wrote: “Fair play Liverpool agreeing a fee for Dybala ,I thought the rumours were fake.”
However not all was as it seems when fans expecting to go to a page where details of the supposedly agreed Dybala deal instead ended up in an entirely different location, finding a match report of Spurs’ 4-1 win over Liverpool in October!
The prankster’s post was retweeted more than 400 times as fans reacted in varying ways to the prank.
“Well you got me but I enjoyed it,” wrote one while another said: “what a tweet <3”
However and wasn’t echoed by one Liverpool fan who tried to hit back at Spurs over Heung-min Son’s availability.
“4 is a good number tbf. Number of games son will miss for you at the start of the season,” they wrote.”Um why did it take me to Spurs 4-1 Liverpool,” posted another confused supporter.
Fair play to the tweet creator, always nice to get one over the reds.
