Tottenham fans are obsessed with the idea of signing £52m AFCON Man of the Match

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have identified an alternative attacking target to bolster the front line as reports suggest that the club’s pursuit of Antoine Semenyo has reached a standstill just days before the window opens.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Antoine Semenyo was reported to have been brought to a halt by Fabrizio Romano, just a few days before the winter window opens.

Spurs remain light in attacking areas, and it remains to be seen who the club brings in to strengthen the depth in those positions.

Samu Aghewoa is a player Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with, but the forward’s price tag is said to be a major obstacle in the North London club’s pursuit of the player.

Tottenham fans urge club to sign Omar Marmoush

Spurs fans have since expressed their dissatisfaction regarding the club leaving the race for Antoine Semenyo, but they have now identified a player they will be more than happy for the club to sign.

Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have urged the hierarchy to make a move for Omar Marmoush of Manchester City, the Egyptian forward whose game time has been greatly reduced this season.

When asked on X if they want the club to make a move for the attacker, many supporters lent their voices to the discussion and all appeared to share the same sentiment.

Discussing his potential impact and tactical flexibility, one fan said: “Yes, can play CAM, on the wings or up front, he is so versatile and we need a player like that he will help us so much.”

Another supporter expressed concerns regarding potential scheduling conflicts: “Would love to but we have to wait for AFCON, will that not be a bit of a problem?”

Further fans discussed his specific role, with one commenting: “Yeah and play him as a 10,” while another urged for the club to address other positions first: “Sure, but I think we need a LB, proven midfielder, top natural left winger before we look at strikers.”

One fan suggested a temporary deal: “Would be fine, just have it be a loan with option to buy,” and the positive responses continued as another added: “Yes because I know how he performed in his Frankfurt days.”

Why a Spurs move for Omar Marmoush remains unlikely

The unanimous approval from Spurs fans shows just how much they crave a proper creative forward in the final third.

Xavi Simons has been tasked with the job of creating, but so far this season, he has struggled to live up to expectations in North London.

Recent reports have also linked Tottenham with a move for Omar Marmoush this season. The Egyptians’ versatility and ability to play across the front line are seen as major positives.

Marmoush hit the headlines on Monday after scoring the winner for Egypt in their AFCON opener against Zimbabwe.

However, Marmoush’s wages, which are reportedly well above the current wage structure at Spurs, will likely make a move to North London very unrealistic.
