Tottenham fans have begun calling on the club to make a major Dele Alli decision after the midfielder’s recent return to the club’s training base.
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli is currently a free agent after being released by Como last season.
Dele is now working hard to get back to playing football, and Tottenham have allowed him to use an academy pitch at Hotspur Way for some individual training with his own coach.
There remain offers on the table for Dele, with sides in La Liga reported to have offered him contracts, while a fairytale return to MK Dons, where it all started, is also being discussed.
Spurs fans react as Dele Alli trains at Tottenham
With Spurs showing kindness to one of their cult heroes of recent times, Tottenham supporters have not wasted any time in sharing their thoughts following Alli’s return to north London.
Many supporters have asked Spurs to sign the midfielder as the club continues to fight for survival in the Premier League this season.
One fan said: “We should just sign him up again, give him a chance!!!!” Another added: “Would love him back as a coach.”
One supporter commented: “We are all rooting for Dele Alli to make a comeback. He brought so much joy to us Spurs fans, least we can do is support him on his journey back to getting on the pitch. Always going to be rooting for Dele.”
Another added: “Give him a contract for the 10 games left, he knows what it means to play for this club. Cannot be any worse than some of the current lot.”
Calls for him to start kept coming: “Just get him registered already – makes sense.” One more preferred him in the dugout instead: “Having him back as a coach would be cool. I would love him back as a player but sadly, I cannot see him finding his form. I think he would be an excellent coach. His experiences could really be some good insight for the youth and help mould them into their best selves on and off the pitch.”
One more stated he will be a great addition should Tottenham go down: “Might as well get him for the Championship.”
A final fan added: “Honestly sign him up. He would help our depth and genuinely offer an improvement over some of our players. Get him on a short-term or a get-paid-when-you-play contract.”
Tottenham must avoid an emotional Dele Alli decision
Tottenham are currently navigating an injury crisis, and, understandably, many fans are of the opinion that Alli should be signed.
However, the club cannot get emotional with their decision in this case, as signing Dele will not see him get into the side straightaway.
This is a player who has not played a competitive game since March of last year, close to a year now, and he managed just eight minutes of football at the time.
With Tottenham embroiled in a relegation scrap, they cannot afford time to bed players in at a crucial stage of the season.
