Tottenham Hotspur fans now believe they have the next Harry Kane in their squad as the club prepares for preseason under Roberto De Zerbi.

With Roberto De Zerbi now at the helm and pre-season fast approaching, there is a big opportunity for several loan players to impress the new boss.

Spurs had a number of players out on loan last season, and many have now returned to N17 ahead of Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Australia.

Among them is young centre-forward Will Lankshear, who enjoyed an impressive spell with Oxford United, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists in 44 appearances for a struggling Championship side that eventually suffered relegation.

Tottenham fans compare Will Lankshear to Harry Kane

The 21-year-old has now returned to N17, and video footage circulating on social media shows him putting in extra work ahead of pre-season.

Lankshear was involved in shooting drills on a small pitch, and his ball striking and finishing have caught the attention of Tottenham fans, with some already making comparisons to Harry Kane.

One fan said while reacting to the clip: “He has got that Kane technique,” while another supporter stated: “This kid has Harry Kane vibes.”

Meanwhile, one supporter dismissed the comparisons, writing: “Anyone saying he is like Harry Kane is far off. He is more of an old-fashioned centre-forward – actually more like Richarlison, but much better.”

Others, however, believe his ceiling under Roberto De Zerbi could be high, with one supporter writing: “Under De Zerbi, Evan Ferguson was at one point valued at £85m (€100m)… just saying.”

Another commented: “Give him a good pre-season with the first team, let us see what he can do.”

One more supporter added: “Kid has a big chance in pre-season to get into the first-team plans. He has the physical presence and can finish. De Zerbi is not afraid to play youth.”

Another fan wrote: “At least some of these guys will get Mikey Moore, Luca Williams-Barnett and Jamie Donley a chance or you will never know if they are better than Richarlison and Kolo.”

The Harry Kane comparisons continued as one supporter claimed: “Looks and moves like Kane and scores goals just like Kane. Time to move up to the first team imo!!”

Spurs must decide on Will Lankshear’s role

Of course, the comparisons with Kane only show how desperate Tottenham fans are for a striker capable of consistently finding the back of the net.

This season highlighted Spurs’ lack of a reliable goalscorer, with the club’s top scorer in the Premier League managing just 11 goals across the campaign.

Tottenham will now have to address their centre-forward issues this summer, and whether that means signing a new striker remains to be seen.

With Lankshear, however, the biggest question is whether he is ready to make such a significant jump from the Championship to the Premier League.
