Tottenham fans left divided over confusing Andy Robertson transfer twist

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left confused following the club’s latest pursuit of Liverpool star Andy Robertson.

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be active in the transfer window despite completing the signings of Conor Gallagher and Souza.

Attention is now understood to have turned to Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson, with reports claiming that Tottenham are working on a deal to sign the Scotland international.

It is explained that Spurs have brought forward plans to vie for the 31-year-old Liverpool left-back as a free agent this summer, with talks between all parties said to be advancing, although no deal has yet been finalised.

Spurs fans have now shared their thoughts on the latest rumours surrounding the possibility of Robertson joining the north London club.

Many have questioned the logic behind the move following the recent arrival of Souza, who operates in the same position.

One supporter said: “This has come out of nowhere. What was the point in Souza then?”

Another Tottenham fan added: “I do not quite get it, although I understand the need for a few bargains. There are plenty of better options of left-backs with expiring contracts though. El Karouani, Mykolenko, Cirkin (club trained), Rico Henry, Senesi.”

Further confusion followed, with one fan commenting: “What is the actual plan? It is so random, there is no strategy. Where are they going as a club?”

Others were more positive, with one supporter saying: “You wait ages for a left-back and then two come along at once. Get this done. Great signing.”

Meanwhile, another Tottenham fan reminded: “It is like people forgot squad depth is a thing,” while a frustrated supporter added: “Why is our recruitment so bad all of a sudden?”

What Andy Robertson could offer Spurs

Robertson, in his prime, was a top full-back for Liverpool, known for his energetic dominance of the left flank and his accurate crossing.

However, over the past two seasons, the defender appears to have moved beyond his peak, with Liverpool acting to secure Milos Kerkez as his long-term replacement.

The Scotland international has been limited to sporadic starts and substitute appearances at times this season.

For Spurs, he would offer additional cover at left-back, particularly with Ben Davies out injured.

Souza, at 19, could be loaned out, and should that happen, combined with Destiny Udogie’s fitness concerns, it would explain why Tottenham are exploring a short-term option.
