Tottenham fans left split as Mauricio Pochettino return debate gathers pace

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have begun to openly debate whether Mauricio Pochettino is a good choice to replace Thomas Frank.

Thomas Frank’s job is far from safe at the moment, even though he was allowed to take charge of Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League match with Borussia Dortmund.

The Dane’s inability to connect with fans has led to a massive disconnect, with supporters making their feelings clear during the defeat against West Ham United, where there were chants about Frank getting sacked in the morning.

Following the defeat, several reports have claimed that Frank’s position is far from secure, with Tottenham said to be weighing up a managerial change.

However, Frank has since dismissed sack talks, labelling them a media circus and claiming he is still ready to fight. His win over Dortmund has likely bought him some time, but fans are still debating over his long-term future in N17.

Tottenham fans discuss Mauricio Pochettino return

That, though, has not prevented Tottenham fans from opening up on who they would want to replace the Dane should he be axed.

Taking to social media, when asked if Mauricio Pochettino should be the next head coach, several supporters were quick to give their backing.

One fan said: “Yep. For sure. Bring back Poch. He coached us to glory and got a lot out of his players,” while another stated: “Abso-f**king-lutely. Almost worked a miracle on a shoestring; had no signings for 18 months; understands the club; understands the fans; connected the two. He should never have been sacked, his sacking was a reflection on Levy’s failures, not Poch’s.”

Another added: “Yes. End of discussion. The entire stadium will be singing his name tomorrow [during the Dortmund clash],” while one more contributed: “YES, YES, YES, it will get a feel-good factor back, and we really need that. Every player can start with a clean slate and the fans will be behind them all from minute one … win win.”

Others were not too keen, with one fan saying: “No, could not win anything with our best team in recent history,” while another added: “Honestly it is a no from me, because we have already seen how far he can take us, and remember we do not have the luxury of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son anymore. So better if we go for someone young with hunger and passion to succeed, Xavi Hernandez, Cesc Fabregas or Julian Nagelsmann.”

Meanwhile, one other named his ideal pick, saying: “I think Xavi is the perfect fit.”

How Pochettino feels about a potential return to Spurs

Pochettino has always spoken about wanting to return to Tottenham, often stating that he has unfinished business.

Just a few days ago, it was reported that the Argentine still maintains an interest in returning to Spurs, although it remains to be seen if it will be this summer, given his commitment to the USA men’s team in what is a World Cup year.

Regardless, Spurs are sure to have a plethora of options to pick from should they part with Frank, and we have even highlighted the most likely and the most ambitious manager option for Tottenham at the moment.
