Tottenham’s 18th Premier League defeat of the season has left fans stunned, with many now bracing for a potentially historic low in the Premier League – “it could get worse.”
After a 2-1 aggregate victory over Frankfurt, Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the semi-finals of the Europa League, with a clash against Bodo/Glimt still to come.
A little feel-good factor was brought back to the club that has struggled for most of this campaign. Fans could dream; they would hope the victory in Germany would fuel this Spurs side to have a strong end to the season.
But that wasn’t to be. The Lilywhites couldn’t build on their win in Europe and ultimately fell short against Nottingham Forest, losing 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham fans react to 18th Premier League loss
That defeat marked Spurs’ eighth home loss this season, the most they have suffered in a single campaign.
It also meant that the Lilywhites have now lost 18 times in the Premier League season… yes, they are on the verge of losing more than half of their league matches in a 38-game season.
This is a record that should not be associated with a team with any ambition of playing in Europe and Tottenham fans have made their feelings clear about this unwanted stat. Many believe it could get a lot worse.
One fan said: “18 isn’t good enough. The number should be higher than that. Sad!!!” Another stated: “23 still not just possible, but likely.”
One drew a comparison between Postecoglou’s record and Pochettino’s: “Ange Postecoglou has lost more Premier League games this season (18) than Mauricio Pochettino did across three campaigns at Spurs (17 defeats in 15/16, 16/17, and 17/18).”
Another added: “We are lucky the three promoted teams were so bad, otherwise we would be in the relegation mixer… to think Levy wanted Spurs in a super league 😂 we’d be bottom every season.”
One supporter said: “Looking at our fixtures, it’ll be at least 21 by the end of the season.” Another claimed: “We won’t win another league game this season and could very easily lose every single one.”
Spurs face brutal run-in after historic Premier League stat
On the balance of things, the Tottenham fans aren’t wrong when they say it could be a lot worse this season, especially due to Spurs’ upcoming fixtures.
Next up for Tottenham is Liverpool, a side that would be looking to clinch the title when the two meet at Anfield.
Add to that, games against Aston Villa, Brighton and Crystal Palace – sides very much above Tottenham in the league table. Realistically, it’s hard to see where Spurs pick up a win in their next five.
