Tottenham fans react as key midfielder is ruled out for the rest of the season

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left reeling after yet another blow to their midfield, with teenage talent Lucas Bergvall ruled out for the remainder of the season.

It does feel a little bit like deja vu for Tottenham Hotspur fans once more this season, as it looks like their key players are beginning to drop like flies.

Of course, Dejan Kulusevski and Kevin Danso only just returned from injuries, and now Heung-min Son, Lucas Bergvall, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke are the latest to suffer knocks.

Bergvall has been confirmed to be out for the rest of the season by Ange Postecoglou. Son is said to be back on the grass, but it remains to be seen if he will be ready ahead of Thursday.

Maddison has been sent for a scan, while Solanke is a doubt for the trip against West Ham after picking up a knock against Bodo/Glimt in Tottenham’s 3-1 win in the first leg.

Lucas Bergvall injury sparks Tottenham fan frustration

Spurs fans have been left distraught by the latest fitness concerns of their team, and many have taken to social media to voice their concerns.

Following the news of Bergvall’s injury, fans took to social media and expressed their worries. One fan said: “I do not think we have ever had a good moment last more than a day. Always a negative that follows and now our two best midfielders are out for the season. Quality.”

Another said: “At this point I am absolutely certain that we, as a club, are a social experiment.”

Another stated: “If Maddison is also out for the second leg and possibly final we may as well just give up.”

Another commented hinting that every key player be rested against West Ham: “None of our starting eleven should be playing against West Ham anyway.” Another simply stated: “Nothing really ever works out for us.”

New Spurs injury crisis threatens momentum

Of course, losing all four of these players would be a significant loss given the impact they have had on Spurs’ Europa League run.

With no definite timeline for a return fixed on their injuries, it makes it a lot harder for fans to stay optimistic. Tottenham do have a two-goal advantage heading into the second-leg tie, which means that they could rest a few key players when they take on Glimt.

A big squad is always important for long seasons like this and that is what Postecoglou would need to rely on at this stage.

Perhaps Tottenham’s fringe players come in and see the second leg through, and then the injured stars recover in time for the finals.
