Tottenham eye Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel amid competition

Mathys Tel, Bayern Munich’s young forward could be on the move to the Premier League before the end of the transfer window.

Tel has attracted attention from multiple clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur among those monitoring his situation closely, though they are not alone in their pursuit, as Manchester United and Chelsea have also been credited with interest.

The young attacker has struggled for minutes at Bayern Munich in recent weeks and with his game time limited, he is reportedly keen on securing a move elsewhere in search of more opportunities.

This has opened the door for potential suitors, with Tottenham now weighing up a possible move for the talented forward.

Tottenham fans react to Mathys Tel rumours

As speculation regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of Mathys Tel gained momentum, supporters took to social media to share their thoughts on the possible deal.

Spursweb posed the question on X, asking fans what they thought about the prospect of the French forward joining before the transfer window shuts.

Many Tottenham fans expressed frustration over the club’s transfer approach, with one fan, @NickRandySpurs, urging the club to act swiftly: “Pull your finger out and GET THE JOB DONE BOYS.”

Others saw the potential deal as a positive move but were sceptical about how it would be structured. @ALLCOYS stated: “Would be good work and instantly help the squad.

“Would hope there is a buy option in it, do not like it as much as just a loan. Does not make up for the first four weeks and lost points, injuries, and dead legs we have suffered by sitting on our hands.”

Some fans were more doubtful about Tottenham’s ability to get the deal over the line. @andystone1978 remarked: “I will believe it when I see it. Till then, I am not going to get sucked in by it. Like people say, it could just be another one of those ‘at least we tried’ moments.”

Similarly, @jeramye echoed a similar sentiment: “I think this is exactly the same kind of leak we have seen window after window. It ends with him going elsewhere and we are told it was ‘too difficult’.”

Others took a more analytical approach, assessing Tel’s qualities and how he would fit into the squad. @Kickoff_Goal_51 described him as the best option Tottenham could realistically sign at this moment, listing his attributes: “Best forward player Spurs can get now. He basically ticks all the boxes ✅ Versatile forward ✅ Trained in winning mentality ✅ Young player ✅ Falls under Spurs wage structure ✅ Ready to play in starting XI.”

However, @elhusseiniahmad was less convinced, expressing concerns over Tel’s form: “He is in really bad form, I just watched him tonight and my lord that was difficult to watch. + there was a video I saw but lost, his last 18 shots and they were awful. He has an incredibly high ceiling though but might not be what we need now.”

What is the latest update regarding transfers?

While Tottenham continue to be linked with several players, Ange Postecoglou has remained measured in his approach to transfers.

The Tottenham boss addressed the ongoing speculation, stating: “I would be disingenuous if I said right now anything other than nothing is imminent, but that does not mean opportunities are not being explored. Right now, the club is trying everything in its power to get someone in and help these players.”

Despite the manager’s comments suggesting that no immediate signing is on the horizon, reports from various sources indicate that Tottenham remain in discussions regarding potential reinforcements.

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Tottenham are “very interested” in Tel and have entered direct talks with his management. Meanwhile, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has provided further insight, reporting that Spurs are one of seven clubs attempting to secure a loan move for Tel.
