An Italian journalist has explained that Fiorentina are facing complications in trying to secure Fabio Paratici from Tottenham Hotspur.
Until last week, several Italian outlets were convinced that an announcement on Paratici’s Tottenham exit was expected soon after the 53-year-old agreed to become Fiorentina’s head of football.
However, Paratici was spotted in attendance during Spurs’ 1-0 win at Selhurst Park on Sunday, which suggested that he is still involved at the North London club.
A couple of days ago, it was reported that Paratici’s exit from Spurs could take a week longer than expected as he wants to depart the North London club amicably instead of burning his bridges.
Journalist worries Fabio Paratici may end up staying at Tottenham
Corriere Fiorentino journalist Ernesto Poesio has now claimed that the Spurs sporting director’s exit is proving complicated as he still has two years left on his contract with the Premier League side.
He expressed his concern that La Viola’s move for the Tottenham official may collapse.
Poesio told Labaro Viola: “Paratici hasn’t arrived yet because he needs to be released. Either Tottenham releases him, or he stays at Tottenham, because Spurs demand that the contract be respected. I hope he doesn’t end up like Godot, who never arrived.
“It’s complicated to understand. He’s not coming because of the urgency Fiorentina has. With every defeat, the situation worsens. Paratici’s idea is to start his journey by working with Vanoli. In the meantime, however, things happen, they lose in Parma, there’s the complicated match against Cremonese.”
Paratici’s exit will come as a bitter blow for Spurs
A couple of days ago, Alasdair Gold stated that Paratici was expected to pull the strings for Tottenham during the January window.
The journalist suggested that the Italian would be a huge loss to Spurs, given his ability to manoeuvre between the worlds of agents and boardroom with ease.
However, Gold pointed out that the fact that Spurs already have another sporting director in Johan Lange is expected to ease the impact of Paratici’s departure.
