Tottenham fans told not to get too excited about Eberechi Eze yet as journalist makes sobering reveal

Amidst heavy speculation talking up Tottenham’s chances of landing Eberechi Eze, Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has now explained why Spurs fans should not be getting excited just yet.

Over the last 24 hours, the speculation linking the Crystal Palace star with a move to N17 has gone into hyperdrive.

On Monday, it was revealed by The Sun that Eze is keen on securing a move to Tottenham and playing in the Champions League next season.

Subsequently, The Guardian claimed that Tottenham want to deliver Eze as a ‘statement signing’ to Thomas Frank at the start of the new era at Spurs.

The update also claimed that Tottenham Hotspur’s close relationship with the 26-year-old’s representatives, CAA Base, may make a deal easier for the Lilywhites to complete.

Tottenham are not about to make an offer for Eberechi Eze just yet

Spurs fans are now pleading with Daniel Levy to secure Eze’s services, but Florian Plettenberg has now suggested that a move from the Lilywhites for the Palace star is far from inevitable.

The journalist confirmed that the England international is indeed on Tottenham’s wishlist and the North Londoners have acquired all the relevant information about the player.

However, he explains that Eze is not the only option that Tottenham are considering, with Frank’s men not close to activating the Eagles star’s release clause at the moment.

He wrote: “Tottenham Hotspur are closely monitoring Eberechi Eze and have already gathered all relevant information. However, he is just one of several players they are considering for his position.

“At this stage, they have not activated his release clause, and are also not close to doing so. Still, Eze remains one to watch for Spurs.

Which alternatives are Tottenham considering for Eze?

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that Bryan Mbeumo has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, but based on the updates over the last few days, it appears Man United are likely to beat Spurs to Mbeumo’s signature.

Various outlets have also claimed over the last week that Tottenham are intensifying their efforts to land Antoine Semenyo, who is thought to be valued at £60m by Bournemouth.

Some journalists have also continued to suggest that Spurs are one of the front-runners to land RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons.
