Tottenham Hotspur supporters have had their say after the club confirmed their only signing of deadline day, with frustration quickly spilling over online.
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly completed their first signing on deadline day of the winter transfer window, with Fabrizio Romano giving it his ‘here we go’ seal of approval.
James Wilson joins Conor Gallagher and Souza in representing the Lilywhites’ efforts this winter as they looked to strengthen their squad – kind of.
Wilson, 18, joins from Scottish side Hearts, with Tottenham beating north London rivals Arsenal to the signature of the teenage striker.

Tottenham fans react to James Wilson deadline day signing
The deal is structured as a loan with an option for Spurs to make the move permanent, although Wilson’s numbers are not entirely ground-breaking, with the forward having managed no goals in his 77 minutes of football for Hearts.
Spurs fans who have caught wind of the latest addition to their squad have expressed their dissatisfaction with the deal, taking to social media to voice their concerns.
One Tottenham fan said: “12 first team players out and this is our deadline day signing”, while another added: “wtf are we doing”, and one more commented: “Does not give us the help we need immediately”, with a further fan stating: “FFS. Not what we need at this stage”.
Others were even more scathing, with one supporter writing: “This transfer window is a joke, where is this 100m we were promised? Another kid signed for our under-21 team, what about our first team who are terrible and getting dragged into a relegation battle. Next home game make a stand or stop moaning.”
Another added: “Beat them to someone who we will never see play. Yay”, and one more posted: “YAY! We have signed a kid who will never make the first team!”
The comments kept coming in with a fan stating: “This is why Paratici left, negligence and ineptitude from the board who can’t focus on signing top-tier players and trot out nonsense regarding Semenyo. Frank mentions summer will be big. Don’t believe this nonsense. Every transfer window is the same get them all out”
Meanwhile, a final Tottenham fan added: “This is the most depressing here we go I’ve ever set my eyes on and I remember the second Werner loan.”
Why the reaction reflects wider Spurs frustration
Tottenham fans have every reason to be disappointed with this transfer window, as Spurs have barely strengthened their squad.
The north London side has added just one player who can compete for a starting spot, and that is Conor Gallagher.
Souza is another signing, but he will perhaps be a fringe option at best, while Wilson is clearly a player for the future. If he can barely make an impact at Hearts, it is hard to see him pushing for a first-team place any time soon.
For all the restructuring and the supposed £100 million injection, the Spurs hierarchy has again failed to deliver in the winter window, with Tottenham technically spending £15 million, as Gallagher’s fee was effectively covered by the sale of Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace for £35 million.
