Tottenham fans will be relieved with stadium update after outrage over recent change

There was widespread discontent among Tottenham fans after a change was made to the stadium last week, but the supporters will be delighted to know that it has now been undone.

Two NFL matches were held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the international break, with the Minnesota Vikings overcoming the Cleveland Browns, and the Denver Broncos getting the better of the New York Jets.

Tottenham’s home ground has become the home of the NFL in the UK , and it has even been tipped to host the Super Bowl in the near future.

While the revenue brought into the club through these fixtures is a huge boost for the club, some Spurs fans did not like a branding change that was made to the venue in preparation for the NFL games.

Tottenham reverse branding change to stadium after fan outrage

The Europa League winners’ banner had been hanging prominently outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since the famous night in Bilbao in May.

However, many Spurs fans were left upset when the banner was removed from the stadium in the lead-up to the 2025 NFL London Games.

Those supporters will be relieved to know that the change has now been reversed, with the banner reading ‘UEFA Europa League winners 2025’ now proudly adorning the entrance to the stadium once again.

The dilemma Spurs face during NFL matches

The fact that Tottenham’s home ground is the home of the NFL is a huge boost to the club’s brand as well as its revenue.

According to various reports, Tottenham’s tie-up with the NFL also makes the club more attractive to potential investors across the world.

However, a certain section of the fan base, who are purists, have always been uneasy about the venue being a multi-purpose stadium.

The decision to take off most of the Tottenham branding during the NFL games clearly does not sit well with them, and that is something that Vinai Venkatesham and the club’s hierarchy may consider moving forward.
