Michael Owen has revealed whether he expects Tottenham Hotspur to finish in the Premier League top five this season.

The feeling around Spurs feels completely different at the start of the new campaign compared to the doom and gloom that surrounded the club during the final few months of last campaign.

Roberto De Zerbi has been backed with huge funds ahead of the new season, with Tottenham giving the Italian what he asked for by delivering his top targets.

As we are about to enter the start of what could be an extremely unpredictable season, some Spurs fans are hoping and dreaming that their side can go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the division.

Michael Owen backs Tottenham to secure Champions League qualification

Michael Owen has now done his quick predictions on where each of the 20 teams will finish, and he has Spurs finishing in fifth place ahead of Manchester City.

That would be a jump of 12 spots from where the Lilywhites finished over the last two seasons, and likely to be enough to get the club back in the Champions League.

With Tottenham looking to end the transfer window with a bang, many Spurs fans will feel that Owen’s prediction is realistic.

What would constitute a successful season for Spurs?

At the end of last campaign, many would have felt that even a top 10 finish this season would not be a failure for De Zerbi as there was very little expectation on Tottenham following two successive 17th place finishes.

However, the extent to which Spurs have backed him with a whole host of Premier League-proven signings this summer has certainly raised expectations.

With Tottenham having no European football this season, anything outside a top six finish will be a disappointing outcome for the club in 2026-27.
