Tottenham fans will enjoy Paul Merson’s score prediction for Wolves clash

Paul Merson correctly predicted a 2-2 draw between Tottenham and Brighton, but he is backing Spurs with his latest score prediction.

Paul Merson is not a popular figure at Tottenham Hotspur and he often does not help himself with the way he talks about his former rivals.

Merson brought up the ‘Spursy’ tagline in his Brighton v Tottenham prediction and declared it was unacceptable for Spurs to defeat Manchester City only to struggle against Bournemouth and Brighton.

Whether Tottenham fans agree or disagree with Merson, he was actually spot on with his prediction, as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Spurs are up against Wolves next and this should be an easy win on paper. Wolves are bottom of the Premier League table on zero points, but could Tottenham fall short again?

Paul Merson predicts a Tottenham victory

Merson does not expect anything other than a Spurs win this time around. Despite some of his past comments, he has been impressed with Thomas Frank’s side, who have had a largely good season.

He told Sportskeeda: “I couldn’t believe how Wolves lost last weekend. When they went 1-0 up, I thought the game was done and dusted but they got absolutely destroyed by Leeds! So in all honesty, I can’t see anything but a Tottenham win here.

“You take away that loss to Bournemouth and Spurs have been good. As long as they turn up and play the way Thomas Frank wants them to play, there should only be one winner here.”

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Wolves

Merson has spoken positively about Tottenham’s prospects for the season and has predicted them to qualify for Champions League football again.

“I would say a top-five finish would be great for Tottenham this season,” he continued. “They are truly capable of achieving it too. Liverpool and Arsenal can take care of themselves, so there are three more spots left. I won’t put Manchester United in that race, Aston Villa won’t be able to catch up unless they really get going.

“Newcastle? Maybe, but they have to be more consistent. If Spurs play their cards right, they can finish in the top five.”

Spurs and Wolves both won in midweek

Wolves may have been defeated by Leeds United, but they defeated Everton in the Carabao Cup. Tottenham also secured a victory in the competition and it was fairly straightforward.

Both teams will be feeling positive after their respective results, but Wolves are still without a win in the Premier League. If this is to change, the away side will need to perform even better than they did against Everton.
