Tottenham’s top scorer of the season, Richarlison wasted absolutely no time reacting on social media after Arsenal’s hopes of European glory ended in painful fashion against Paris Saint-Germain.
However difficult Tottenham Hotspur‘s season may have been, with the club only surviving relegation on the final day, Spurs supporters will still find some comfort in how their North London rivals Arsenal ended their campaign.
The Gunners finally got their hands on the Premier League title less than a week ago, ending a 22-year wait for the trophy, something that undoubtedly stung many Tottenham fans.
Arsenal then had the opportunity to cap off a dream season by winning the Champions League when they faced Paris Saint-Germain in the final. And things started perfectly for Mikel Arteta’s side as Kai Havertz gave them an early lead, but PSG fought back through an Ousmane Dembele penalty before the game eventually went all the way to a shootout.
That is where things unravelled for Arsenal. Both Gabriel and Eberechi Eze, two players who are certainly not popular among Tottenham supporters, missed from the spot as PSG went on to lift the trophy, leaving Arsenal heartbroken once again on the European stage.
Naturally, Spurs fans quickly took to social media to poke fun at their rivals and Richarlison was not far behind them.

Richarlison quickly joined the Arsenal banter after PSG triumph
Less than ten minutes after Arsenal’s penalty shootout defeat, Richarlison took to Instagram with a post that immediately caught attention.
The Tottenham forward shared a viral meme showing a young child sobbing before suddenly bursting into laughter, a post many supporters interpreted as a direct reaction to Arsenal’s defeat.
It is far from the first time Richarlison has exchanged playful jabs with Arsenal players.
Following Tottenham’s victory over Arsenal in a pre-season friendly, the Brazilian posted a photograph holding both the trophy and his Player of the Match award while tagging Arsenal star Gabriel directly.
Gabriel eventually got his own revenge after Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Spurs, posting a picture of his Man of the Match award while tagging Richarlison back.
Richarlison, however, had one final response in reserve when he later shared a photo of himself celebrating with the Europa League trophy on social media.
Tottenham duo Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence also appeared to enjoy the moment
While many players tend to avoid getting involved publicly in rival banter, Richarlison’s latest post did not go unnoticed inside the Tottenham dressing room.
Both Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence quickly liked the post. Some fans may view it as harmless banter, while others might question whether players should be engaging with such posts at all.
Either way, Tottenham supporters will likely appreciate seeing players who understand the significance of the rivalry, especially given Spurs have not won a North London Derby since May 2022.
For all the struggles of recent years, supporters will now hope that understanding eventually translates into results on the pitch when the rivalry resumes next season.
