Tottenham fans will love the reviews Destiny Udogie got in Italy this week

The national media in Italy has been hyping up Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid Destiny Udogie for his performances while on loan at Udinese, with his latest display drawing particular praise.

Tottenham snapped up the young Udogie from Udinese in a deal worth a reported £15 million in the summer, before loaning the player back to his former club for the duration of the 2022/23 campaign (Sky Sports).

Udogie caught the eye last season, with five goals and three assists from left wing-back in 37 appearances for Udinese (Transfermarkt). Those displays were enough to persuade Spurs to make their move sooner rather than later.

Injuries have hampered Udogie’s development a little this season, but the starlet still has two goals and two assists for the Italian side this term (Transfermarkt).

The young Italian star is no stranger to high praise, after making the shortlist for the Golden Boy award in 2022 (The Athletic). He was also named as one of UEFA‘s players to watch in 2023 recently.

Upon his return to injury this week, Udogie was instrumental for Udinese and bagged an assist. His performance in the game against Empoli on Wednesday night has earned plenty of positive reviews from the Italian media.

The Serie A Scout highlighted Udogie’s impressive stats, with the player creating six chances, winning three tackles, and recovering the ball four times throughout the 1-1 draw.

TuttoMercatoWeb gave Udogie a rating of 7 out of 10 for his display, making him the highest-rated Udinese player on the night. The outlet described Udogie as being so fast he is “uncatchable,” and said Udogie being substituted in the 81st minute had a “devastating” impact on his side’s attacking output.

Yet more praise for one of the most exciting players Tottenham Hotspur possess here, and quite the return to action for Udogie who looks like he has bounced back from his injury. Let’s hope he keeps this up for the rest of the season and ends his time with Udinese on a high, before bringing that form to Spurs.
