Roberto De Zerbi has revealed what his aim is in the Carabao Cup this season ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Liverpool at Anfield.
Tottenham Hotspur have to focus on domestic competitions alone this season as they are not in Europe, following their 17th-place finish in the 25/26 campaign.
However, their Premier League start this season has been rather poor, with Tottenham winless and picking up just two points from their opening four matches.
But in the Carabao Cup, life has been much easier, with Spurs managing a 5-1 victory over Charlton Athletic in round two of the competition.

Roberto De Zerbi outlines Tottenham’s Carabao Cup ambitions
Up next for Tottenham in round three is a clash against Premier League opposition Liverpool at Anfield. It is sure to be a tougher test for Spurs, but De Zerbi has made it clear that he will be rotating his squad either way.
The Tottenham boss has now revealed his view on the Carabao Cup competition and whether it is an aim to go far in the tournament.
He told football.london when asked if he feels the need to progress in the Carabao Cup: “I would like to go far in the Carabao and FA Cup. I would like to play with the same attitude of Premier League and maybe score some goals more, but the attitude and the spirit I want to see the same.”
Saying that is all well and good, but Tottenham fans won’t be happy if De Zerbi makes 10 changes tonight against Liverpool and Spurs go crashing out in the third round.
Spurs’ squad players have chance to stake their claim
At this point, it is inevitable for Spurs not to rotate their squad on Tuesday, with De Zerbi constantly stating that.
It is a team sport, and the other players who make up the squad will have to step up and show they are capable of getting a result in the cup competition.
It is not as though the so‑called first XI have managed that all season, as Tottenham remain without a win in the Premier League and without a goal.
Tuesday also presents the perfect opportunity for many of these squad players to stake a claim for first‑team football, with a good performance at Anfield.
