Tottenham fans will love what Dominic Solanke said about winning Europa League

Dominic Solanke has laid bare Tottenham’s ambitions for the remainder of the campaign, revealing the squad are gunning for glory in Europe ‘We want to win it.’

Every Tottenham Hotspur fan can start dreaming about a European final, with the club now just two wins away from a place in the showpiece and three from paradise.

It could be this season. The 17-year wait might finally be over. But it may come at a cost – a dismal Premier League record. Still, who would care? The ‘Spursy’ tag, the constant banter – all of it could finally be put to bed.

Tottenham can dream because of a well-taken penalty from Dominic Solanke, who ended an 11-game goal drought by coolly slotting his spot-kick straight down the middle.

Dominic Solanke reveals Tottenham target after Europa League quarter-final win

It definitely took some nerves, as the pressure would have been palpable given the deafening atmosphere at the Deutsche Bank Park in Germany.

But these are the moments players dream of, and Solanke certainly delivered. With a place in the semi-finals now confirmed, the Tottenham number nine has revealed what the team are chasing for the rest of the season.

Asked how far the team could go after reaching the semi-finals, he told TNT Sports: “I think it’s been something we’ve been looking forward to the whole season really, being back in Europe from the start of the season we wanted to win the thing and obviously we’re a step closer now and hopefully we can do it.”

On whether the win was the perfect response to critics, he added: “Of course I think obviously we haven’t had the best of seasons in the Premier League this year but ultimately you want to win trophies and we got a good chance of doing that this year with this cup, like I said hopefully we go on to win it.”

Spurs eye special end to season despite Premier League woes

Awaiting them in the semi-finals is Bodo/Glimt, who are chasing their own European fairytale. The Norwegian side weren’t expected to get past Lazio in the quarter-finals, but they did, and they had to dig deep to do it.

It was a game full of drama – Bodo/Glimt surrendered their 2-0 first-leg lead in the return fixture, and just when it looked like they were going out, they levelled it up and forced a penalty shootout, where they eventually triumphed.

On 1 May 2025, Spurs will resume their Europa League journey. And with their league form faltering, a bleak domestic season could still end up with a special European twist.
