Tottenham fans will love what James Maddison just posted alongside Dejan Kulusevski

James Maddison, who is on the mend from an ACL injury, has admitted that he is desperately missing being out there in a Tottenham shirt after watching his teammates start their Champions League campaign with a win.

Maddison is expected to miss the majority of the season after rupturing his ACL during Tottenham’s pre-season friendly in South Korea.

His injury, which has also coincided with Dejan Kulusevski’s injury absence, was perhaps one of the reasons that prompted Spurs to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig in the summer.

The England international was in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday as Simons made his home debut for the Lilywhites as they overcame Villarreal 1-0.

James Maddison cannot wait to wear a Tottenham shirt again

The Tottenham man has not kicked a ball since the first leg of the Europa League semifinal against Bodo/Glimt, where he suffered a knee injury.

Unfortunately, the 28-year-old then injured his ACL in his first game back, and the Spurs star was in tears when he was stretchered off in Seoul.

Maddison has now taken to Instagram to admit that he still has a long way to go to return to the pitch, but confessed that he cannot wait to wear the Spurs shirt again.

Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski post fitness update

While the signing of Simons and the brilliant performances of Lucas Bergvall have lessened the impact of Maddison and Kulusevski’s injuries, Thomas Frank would still be hoping to have the duo back as quickly as possible.

The pair posted a picture working together on the fitness bike at the Hotspur Way gym, along with the caption: “We are hungry, let’s eat”.

The Swede is expected to be back sooner than Maddison, with Kulusevski confirming that he will be back on the pitch in two or three months.
