Kevin Danso has revealed what he thinks of Jun’ai Byfield after the teenager made his Tottenham Hotspur debut on Tuesday.
Frank’s decision to hand the 17-year-old his debut against Dortmund was down to necessity rather than anything else.
When Lucas Bergvall was forced off with an injury on 63 minutes, the Tottenham boss did not have many options to turn to on the bench, given the club’s bloated injury list.
Byfield, who is a centre-back at youth level for Spurs, slotted in at right-back, with Pedro Porro moving to an unfamiliar midfield role.

Kevin Danso is a big fan of Tottenham youngster Jun’ai Byfield
Despite playing out of position, the teenager did not look out of place at all against Dortmund, and more than held his own.
Thomas Frank lavished praise on Byfield for the way he handled the pressure of a big Champions League game, and revealed that the youngster had stood out in training.
That has now been backed up by Danso, who admitted that he has been thoroughly impressed with the 17-year-old.
When asked about the Spurs academy defender, the Austrian told Football.London: “He’s been amazing. He trains with us a lot, and he’s a very, very, very, very good player. Everybody was happy for him today to make his debut, and he did an amazing job.”
Danso sings the praises of Spurs captain Cristian Romero
With Micky van de Ven suspended, Danso slotted into the team alongside Cristian Romero, and the former Lens man, who, once again, did not put a foot wrong.
The 27-year-old has now sung the praises of his centre-back partner, who scored in his second consecutive match, taking his tally to five goals and three assists this season.
When asked about Romero finding the back of the net again, Danso said: “He’s a person who leads by example on the pitch in everything he does, he gives 100 per cent. He’s a leader on and off the pitch and he showed that exactly again today by putting us in front [against Dortmund].”
