Tottenham fans will love what Newcastle fans were singing about Arsenal

Newcastle United fans were reportedly heard taunting Arsenal about their Champions League aspirations yesterday, suggesting that the Gunners are nowhere near good enough for Europe’s premier club competition.

Tottenham needed the Magpies to get a result against the Gunners so the Lilywhites could have their destiny in their own hands going into their final Premier League game of the season at Carrow Road.

Eddie Howe’s side did Antonio Conte’s men a huge favour by beating Arsenal 2-0, thus leaving their hopes of a fourth-place finish hanging by a thread.

Granit Xhaka took a swipe at some of his teammates after the game, stating that they did not follow the game plan Mikel Arteta had outlined (Sky Sports).

The Swiss international further added that Arsenal do not deserve to play in the Champions League or even the Europa League on the back of performances like the one they produced at St James’ Park.

According to The Times’ Henry Winter, Newcastle fans agree with Xhaka’s assessment, with the home fans reportedly signing during the game: “Champions League? You’re having a laugh.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Arsenal’s performances in the North London Derby and against Newcastle clearly demonstrate that they cannot cope with the pressure of big games and that they are not ready for the Champions League.

In stark contrast, we have demonstrated a ruthless streak and a winning mentality in our last two games that suggests that under Conte, we are ready to take on Europe’s elite.
