Many Tottenham fans will be hoping that Ange Postecoglou follows the lead of Rubem Amorim after the Manchester United boss made an admission about the club’s remaining Premier League matches.
An all-English Europa League final at the San Mames in Bilbao is still very much on the cards after Tottenham and Man United sealed progression into the semifinals by overcoming Eintracht Frankfurt and Lyon respectively.
Spurs emerged with a hard-fought away win at Eintracht Frankfurt to seal their place in the final four and by the looks of it, there is belief among the Tottenham squad that they can lift the trophy.
The same will also be true of the Man United squad after their dramatic turnaround against Lyon in extra time at Old Trafford.

Tottenham fans will want Ange Postecoglou to copy Rubem Amorim
Neither Man United nor Spurs have anything other than pride to play for in the Premier League, with the two sides sitting in 14th and 15th place respectively in the table.
Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
14 | 32 | 10 | 8 | 14 | 38 | 45 | -7 | 38 | |
15 | 32 | 11 | 4 | 17 | 60 | 49 | 11 | 37 |
There is no doubt that the focus of the two clubs will be on achieving Europa League glory, and the Red Devils head coach has now admitted that he will play the kids in the remaining league games in order to prioritise the semifinals and finals.
Amorim said after his side’s win over Lyon (via Fabrizio Romano): “We have to take a risk with the kids in the Premier League… we have to focus on the Europa League.”
It is fair to say that Tottenham fans will certainly not mind Postecoglou doing the same and putting all the eggs in the Europa League basket.

Spurs should not repeat Mauricio Pochettino’s mistake in 2019
Back in 2019, Tottenham’s league form went down a cliff as they progressed deep into the Champions League.
Mauricio Pochettino’s entire focus was understandably on the competition, but that meant that Spurs went into the final against Liverpool without any momentum and in poor form.
That is something Postecoglou will want to avoid, and winning league matches is the best way to ensure that the squad’s confidence remains high going into the crucial knockout fixtures.
