Tottenham fans will want Luka Vuskovic to change his mind after latest comments

Luka Vuskovic is making waves on loan at Hamburger SV this season, and the young Tottenham starlet doesn’t want the ride to stop any time soon.

Tottenham have been waiting a long time to get Luka Vuskovic into the fold in North London, with the teenager needing to ply his trade elsewhere before he can make the jump to English football.

After an impressive spell at Westerlo in Belgium last season, Vuskovic has made the step up with Hamburg in the Bundesliga this season.

He’s been so good that Vuskovic has even won a big Bundesliga award this month. But, when will he return to Spurs? Well, by the sounds of it, the player himself is keen to stay in Germany as long as possible.

Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic wants to stay at Hamburger SV

In an interview with Rheinische Post (via Sport Witness) this weekend, Vuskovic was talking about his future and referenced the fact that his brother, Mario, also plays for Hamburg.

Mario, the older sibling, is suspended from football until November for testing positive for a banned substance, but Luka is eager to team up with him next season.

Vuskovic said: “It’s my dream to play with Mario here at Hamburg. I love this club and the fans. I personally can’t think of a better scenario.

“We [Vuskovic and Tottenham] have a good exchange and will decide together on the next right step.”

It’s very much up for debate what that next step will be for Vuskovic. Will he be ready for the Tottenham first-team squad come the end of the season? Perhaps. And maybe, Spurs will need him more than they know.

Spurs might need Vuskovic next season

On the one hand, Tottenham might need to give Vuskovic a chance in the senior squad to stave off interest from elsewhere. It’s thought both Bayern and Barcelona want Vuskovic, so he will need to see he’s got a clear path to regular football at Spurs to keep rivals at bay.

There is also the suggestion that Micky van de Ven is frustrated at Spurs. So much so that he’s reluctant to sign a new contract with the Lilywhites.

If the Dutchman does move on soon, whether Spurs like it or not, they will need to replace him. There can be no better replacement than Vuskovic, with the big Croatian the perfect option to step up and make us all forget about van de Ven.
