Tottenham finally confirm the sixth signing of the summer transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur have finally confirmed the signing of right-wing-back Djed Spence from Middlesbrough.

The north Londoners have revealed that the England Under-21 international has penned a contract until 2027.

The right-wing-back spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he helped Steve Cooper’s side in securing a return to the Premier League following a play-off final win over Huddersfield Town.

Alasdair Gold revealed earlier in the summer that Spurs, Borrusia Dortmund, AS Roma, Newcastle, Brentford and Forest were all willing to meet Boro’s valuation of the 21-year-old (Football.London), but it is the Lilywhites who have won the race.

Spence becomes Spurs’ sixth signing of the post-season, following in the footsteps of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, and Clement Lenglet on loan.

Spence is still young and raw, but he brings a new sense of pace and directness to that right-wing-back role, a position he has experience operating in. The combination of youth and experience should work well for Spurs with Spence and Sessegnon on either side, as well as the likes of Perisic and Doherty.
