Tottenham find out how long Lucas Bergvall will be out in latest injury blow

Another key Tottenham player has now been added to the club’s injury list after Lucas Bergvall was forced off against Borussia Dortmund.

Tottenham have been boosted by the return of Dominic Solanke recently, while Dejan Kulusevski is edging closer to full fitness with each passing week.

However, over recent weeks, the Lilywhites have lost the likes of Richarlison, Mohammed Kudus, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ben Davies to long-term layoffs, which poses further headaches for Thomas Frank.

It has now been confirmed that one more midfielder has been added to Tottenham’s bloated injury list.

Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall is facing three months on the sidelines

Lucas Bergvall was forced off with an injury after 63 minutes during Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

The midfielder was on the receiving end of a foul from Emre Can and tried running it off for the next few minutes, but was eventually unable to continue.

Fotbollskanalen now reports that the diagnosis of the Swede’s injury is grim and that he is out for the foreseeable future.

The outlet claims that Bergvall has been ruled out of Sweden’s World Cup playoff semi-final against Ukraine on March 26. It concludes that the Tottenham man is expected to be out of action for ‘two or three months’.

Thomas Frank is running out of options in midfield

It is not only Bentancur and Bergvall who the Lilywhites are without in their midfield. Joao Palhinha is also out with an injury, having missed the last two matches and not being spotted in training.

Pape Sarr was struck down with a nasty virus during the African Cup of Nations, and there is no clarity on when the Senegal international will be back in action.

While the arrival of Conor Gallagher has provided temporary relief for the Tottenham boss, some reports indicate that Spurs could look to add another midfielder to their squad before the window slams shut.
