The half-time player ratings for Tottenham’s 2026-27 Premier League opener against Brentford are in as the Lilywhites head into the break two goals down.

Tottenham first-half player ratings vs Brentford

Antonin Kinsky Brentford started the game with real intent and threatened the Tottenham goal on numerous occasions, although Kinsky was not called into action. However, the Bees’ first shot on target led to a goal, with Kinsky well beaten as Lewis Potter tapped into an empty net. For the second goal, the Tottenham shot-stopper should have done better instead of pushing Jensen’s shot into the path of Janlet. 3.

Archie Gray The youngster has often struggled with Schade out on Tottenham’s right, with the Brentford winger often beating him and getting behind the Spurs defence. 4.

Jan Paul van Hecke The centre-back was forced into a lot of defending for most of the first half as Brentford applied early pressure and pressed high up. He did make a few blocks and interceptions. 5.

Marcos Senesi A Spurs debutant, Senesi has looked really solid at the back for Tottenham aside from when Brentford scored. He has been aggressive, often pushing high up into midfield when pressing and applying pressure on the ball. Senesi has also looked solid in build-up. 4.

Andy Robertson The full-back has had very few forward forays in this encounter, barely overlapping Mathys Tel. He, however, made a crucial last-ditch tackle during one of Brentford’s attacks. The Bees’ opener did come from his side of the pitch. 4.

Sandro Tonali The Tottenham debutant has seen plenty of the ball in midfield as he looks to dictate play from deep. Tonali, however, often gets closed down quickly, preventing him from having any impact. Early on in the first half, he did manage a crucial block after Brentford let fly from the edge of the box. 4.

Lucas Bergvall He has shown plenty of energy helping with pressing from midfield, while also being aggressive in his tackles. The Swede looks to have been given the licence to drift around in midfield, going wherever the ball is. Still, no real creativity from him. He was easily dispossessed for Brentford’s second goal as he was not strong going into the duel. 3.

Conor Gallagher Playing in the number ten position today, Gallagher has managed just one attempt on goal, which came early in the first half, but was wide of the goal. 3.

Mikey Moore The youngster has barely had a kick of the ball, with Tottenham attacks few and far between in the first half. 4.

Richarlison He has shown a willingness to drop deep and link up with Gallagher and Tel on a few occasions, but no real sniff at goal throughout the opening 45 minutes. 3.

Mathys Tel The young Frenchman was not able to replicate his stunning free kick from pre-season after Richarlison won a free kick not too far from goal. Tel fired through the wall, making it easy for Kheller to gather. He did, however, link up well with Richarlison on a few occasions, but so far there have been no driving runs at the Brentford defence. 4.
