The half-time player ratings for Tottenham’s Premier League clash against Everton are in as the Lilywhites head into the break after a 0-0 draw.
Tottenham first-half player ratings vs Everton
Antonin Kinsky – The Tottenham shot-stopper was forced into one save late on in the first half following a free kick, and he dealt with the effort rather well. 6
Archie Gray – He came into the first team for Pedro Porro, who is dealing with a muscle problem, and has looked very sharp linking well with Savio. There is fine rotation down on the left, with Gray tucking in while Savio holds width. The full-back has the licence to go into the final third in attack. 7.5.
Jan Paul van Hecke – The centre-back has been very positive with the ball from deep, as he often looks to play forward, fizzing passes to attacking players. He did play Fernandes in early on, but the midfielder could not get a shot away. Van Hecke also had a chance to give Spurs an early lead after connecting with an Andy Robertson cross but failed to keep his effort down. 7.5.
Micky van de Ven – He has barely had much to do at the back, but in the first half, van de Ven was very aggressive whenever the ball came into Barry. The Spurs centre-back would press the forward, giving him little time to turn and play his teammates in. 6.5.
Andy Robertson – The full-back came in for the injured Destiny Udogie and started the first half pretty strongly, especially in attack, putting in a few crosses into the box. He did create one big chance from a free-kick which found van Hecke at the back post, but the Dutchman could not convert. 7.
Sandro Tonali – He has offered much creativity from deep, often playing balls into runners from the heart of midfield. Tonali did find Savio with one of those balls over the defence and also found Gray with another. Overall, a solid performance from the heart of the Tottenham midfield. 7.
Rodrigo Bentancur – When it comes to decision-making in the middle of the park, Bentancur can barely be criticised, as the midfielder has often made the right decision in this match-up, often picking the right time to play a forward, back or sideways pass. His work off the ball has also been very good, with Bentancur offering cover in the centre while also covering the wide areas when Gray overlaps. 8.
Mateus Fernandes – The Tottenham midfielder has found himself in the pockets in attack but has not really made the most of the chances created for him. Fernandes has often struggled to release the ball in time or get shots off quickly. Needs to improve his decision-making. 6.5.
Savio – Has been the brightest of the front three, with Savio and Gray linking very well on the right. Savio has been direct, taking his man on and looking to get balls into the box. 7.
Dominic Solanke – He has barely had a clear-cut chance in this match-up, although he has linked up play well, dropping deep and playing one-twos with those around him. 6.
Omar Marmoush – While he has been named as a left winger, Marmoush is not being deployed as a traditional left winger; instead, he is coming inside and playing closer to Solanke. In the first half, there have been no clear-cut chances, but he has managed to get a couple of shots off, although they were ultimately blocked. 6.
