Not even a blip anymore

Last week i said we had a ‘blip’. This week i am saying we are in real trouble.

A disastrous result at Liverpool last week, we have 2 inept and pathetic performances against Inter Milan and Fulham.

I mentioned in one of my first articles on the site that on so many occasions when we have had things ‘In our own hands’, we blow it every time. I was castigated by many for saying that, but the fact remains it’s true.

Again this season, we had ‘everything’ in our own hands to finish in the top 4. Once again, we have blown it from our own hands and it is not now in our own hands. We are now, ‘as in the past’ relying on others to drop points and it is now more hope than anything else.

I was very disappointed today with AVB in his team selection, playing 5 defenders instead of having an extra striker in a match that we really needed to win.

I am sure I will get a lot of abuse again for being pessimistic, but that is the feeling now amongst many supporters. How many of you left early today – there were thousands of empty seats with some 10 minutes still left to play.

I said at the start of the season in my first article I didn’t think we would finish in the top 4 and the abuse I got was overwhelming. I still hope I am totally wrong, but I have to say to all of you who look at the site we are in real danger now of not making the top 4 and yet another year not being in the Champions League.

So as I said, it’s not a ‘blip’ anymore, it is a real problem we have.
