The half-time whistle has blown in the Champions League match between Tottenham and Eintracht Frankfurt, and it’s time for our player ratings.
Tottenham Hotspur go into the break with a 0-0 draw against Frankfurt in what is a crucial Champions League encounter for them, with a victory needed if they are to finish in the top eight of the league phase.
Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:
Guglielmo Vicario – The Italian was not forced into any saves during the opening forty-five minutes, as Frankfurt took no shots on target. 5.
Djed Spence – The full-back started from the right this time around and had a rather quiet half, not overly getting into attacks with overlapping runs beyond Wilson Odobert. The few times he has gone forward, he has looked to put low-driven crosses across goal. 5.
Cristian Romero – The Spurs captain remains a threat from set-pieces and was close to grabbing an assist in the first half after heading Xavi Simons’ corner to the back post, but Joao Palhinha could not convert. Defensively, he has been solid, although Frankfurt have barely threatened. 6.
Kevin Danso – Filling in for the injured Micky van de Ven, the Austrian has looked to replicate the play of the Dutchman, as he is not afraid to pick up the ball and drive into the Frankfurt half from defence. 6.
Destiny Udogie – Unlike Spence, Udogie has looked to join in attacks with overlapping runs, even though he has barely created many chances. He was involved in Spurs’ disallowed goal after fouling a Frankfurt defender from an offside position. He has also popped up in advanced areas due to the rotational play on Spurs’ left, with Randal Kolo Muani, Udogie and Simons often rotating, which has seen the full-back find himself in the box. 7.

Archie Gray – The midfielder has been tasked with controlling the tempo from deeper areas and has done that well, using neat short passes to keep things ticking. He found himself on the edge of the box following a Spence cross, but could only set up Pape Matar Sarr. 6.
Joao Palhinha – Came closest for Tottenham after meeting Romero’s header at the back post earlier in the first half, but he was denied by Santos. 6.
Pape Matar Sarr – Returned at the perfect time given the injury crisis Thomas Frank is dealing with. He has looked sharp, offering energy and running in midfield, while making several good tackles and interceptions. He also had an opportunity to score from outside the box but fired over the bar. 6.
Xavi Simons – The Dutchman has looked bright, popping up all over the pitch in attack and linking up well with his team-mates. He did put the ball in the net, but it was ruled out following Udogie’s offside foul. He later had another chance after a mistake from Frankfurt’s goalkeeper, but his effort was tame. 6.5.
Randal Kolo Muani – The Frenchman has been full of running, popping up out wide and regularly getting involved in the build-up play with some neat give-and-go exchanges. He was heavily involved in the disallowed goal, with his movement creating the space for the cross. 6.
Wilson Odobert – The young wide man had a good opportunity to put Tottenham in front, striking the post with an effort from outside the box. 7.
