Tottenham handed huge training boost as two players return from injury

Two Tottenham Hotspur players have been spotted back in training ahead of the club’s Premier League weekend fixture with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Tottenham Hotspur have started strongly under new boss Thomas Frank, who has quickly turned things around in north London following the dismal campaign last season that ended with a 17th-place finish.

The Dane has had to manage without a number of important first-team players, with Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison among those sidelined through injury.

Although their absences have been noticeable, Frank has not been short of options, with his summer signings stepping up and providing the necessary depth to keep Tottenham competitive across all competitions.

Dominic Solanke and Kota Takai return to Tottenham training

Sky Sports has now revealed that two Tottenham players who have been out injured have finally returned to the training pitch.

Footage from training ahead of the clash against Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend showed Dominic Solanke and Kota Takai back on the training pitch, as the pair look to build match fitness following their injuries.

Solanke has barely featured this season, having missed most of pre-season, and just as he appeared to be closing in on full fitness, he picked up an ankle knock before the Bournemouth game and has been sidelined ever since.

Takai, meanwhile, has not made the Tottenham bench in any competitive match since his move from Japan, but recent reports suggested he was nearing a return, and the latest update indicates he is close to full fitness.

Tottenham unlikely to rush Solanke and Takai

The upcoming fixture against Brighton may arrive too soon for both Solanke and Takai, making it unlikely they will feature at the weekend.

A cameo appearance from the bench for Solanke cannot be ruled out, although Frank may choose caution given Spurs have a Carabao Cup tie against Doncaster following their Premier League outing.

There is ultimately little need to rush the pair back into action, with Tottenham boasting solid depth in both attack and defence, as Mathys Tel, Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani provide forward cover, while Kevin Danso, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero offer reliable defensive options.
