Journalist Pete O’Rourke has shared why Tottenham Hotspur may face big challenges in their pursuit of Maghnes Akliouche following the latest developments over the Monaco star’s future.
Tottenham failed with a move for Akliouche in January, and it has been widely reported that Spurs are continuing to track the Monaco star ahead of the summer.
Monaco are expected to demand £60m for Akliouche, who has scored seven times and provided 11 assists across all competitions this term.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that several Premier League clubs have already called about Akliouche’s availability ahead of the summer window.

One factor could prevent Tottenham from winning race for Maghnes Akliouche
Pete O’Rourke has now confirmed that the France international has been on the Lilywhites’ radar for a long time.
However, he suggested that De Zerbi’s men may struggle to convince the 24-year-old to come to N17 since they cannot offer him European football next term.
O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Maghnes Akliouche is obviously a player who’s been on Tottenham’s radar for a long time. But it’ll be difficult for Spurs to land him in this summer window because they’re not going to be able to offer European football, and especially Champions League football. I would imagine Akliouche is keen to play in the Champions League next season.”
Liverpool favourites to beat Spurs to Akilouche
Over recent months, some outlets have suggested that Man United are keen on landing Alikouche, and just last week, TEAMtalk claimed that Aston Villa have also set their sights on the Spurs target.
O’Rourke has now revealed that Liverpool are also plotting a move for the Monaco man, suggesting that the Reds are the favourites to secure the attacking midfielder.
The journalist added: “Liverpool are in the mix now for Akliouche as well as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, so that would make things more difficult for Tottenham as well.
“Liverpool would be the favourites in that one if it came down to it because of what they will likely be able to offer the winger. There’s been interest from clubs in the Premier League for a while now. Monaco are well aware of the growing interest in him and probably would sell at the right price.”
