Tottenham handed massive blow in their pursuit of top target

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to a number of attacking stars throughout the transfer window, but two have stood out as Pochettino’s clear top targets.

The Mirror reported last week that Spurs were expected to tie up deals worth a combined £80m for Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon before the week was out.

However, fast forward seven days and these transfers seem no closer to completion, with there being no guarantee that Spurs will sign either, let alone both.

Ryan Sessegnon endured an up and down season last time out, but still managed to score a couple of Premier League goals in a relegated Fulham side.

The 19-year-old is now back in the Championship, where he caught the eye of clubs like Spurs by netting 16 goals in the 2017/18 season (Wikipedia).

Fulham manager and ex-Spurs star, Scott Parker, has now claimed that he fully expects Ryan to return from rehabilitation and play a big part for his current club.

With just one year left on his contract though, it could be a case of sell up now or lose him on a free later for Fulham.

Parker said (West London Sport): “He’s rehabbing back to a point where he can feature. We’ll try everything we can [to keep him].

“We’ll see what will happen from there but at this present time, with 10 days [of the transfer window] to go, he’s a Fulham player and we fully expect him to rehab back from his injury and play a big part.”
