Tottenham have a big ‘relegation’ concern about sacking Thomas Frank

Tottenham Hotspur have one very big concern about pulling the plug on the Thomas Frank project just seven months into his tenure.

Over the last 48 hours or so, a number of outlets have reported that Thomas Frank is now on thin ice at Tottenham as the club seriously contemplates making a managerial change.

To make matters worse, it is said that Frank is losing support among the Spurs board as the team continues to struggle in the Premier League.

However, there is one factor giving Tottenham Hotspur some pause about deciding to part ways with the former Brentford boss.

Tottenham facing big ‘dilemma’ as they consider Thomas Frank’s future

The Times have now revealed that Spurs have discussed alternatives to the Danish coach as they contemplate whether to sack him right now.

However, the report says that at the moment, there is a lack of clear alternatives available mid-season, with the club’s top targets not available until next summer.

This is said to be part of Tottenham’s dilemma, as there is fear among the hierarchy that a wrong appointment may harm the team and push the club closer to the relegation zone.

Spurs are currently 10 points clear of 18th-placed West Ham after the Hammers’ win at N17 on Saturday.

Recently sacked manager wants to assess his options

One man who is now out of contract is Xabi Alonso, with the Spaniard parting ways with Real Madrid last week.

The Times say that while Alonso is keen on a move to the Premier League, he is not willing to take up another job right now and would prefer to assess any offers from June.

The outlet adds that another top target, Andoni Iraola, wants to honour his contract with Bournemouth, which runs out at the end of the season.
