Tottenham have a plan to deal with Fabio Paratici exit amid Johan Lange criticism

Once again, Tottenham are parting ways with Fabio Paratici, and fans are wondering what will happen next when it comes to the club’s recruitment team.

Paratici returned to Spurs after a hiatus and oversaw the proceedings for the January transfer window. Sadly, it was a disappointing window, though.

With only Conor Gallagher and Souza coming through the door as first-team additions, the supporters have every right to feel frustrated. Even Cristian Romero was annoyed by the inactivity from the board last month.

Johan Lange has taken a lot of the criticism for that. Now, with Paratici gone, he will need a new partner to help out in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham will find a direct replacement for Fabio Paratici

While some suspected Lange would be left to his own devices in the summer, it’s now thought Spurs will hire a direct replacement for Fabio Paratici.

That’s according to The Telegraph, with a report claiming Tottenham are already underway with the process of hiring a new sporting director with the intention of sticking with the two-man operation.

It’s said Tottenham are confident things can run smoothly behind the scenes despite Paratici’s exit, for now at least. Lange will work closely with chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and manager Thomas Frank,

Lange has already promised big things in the summer, saying: “The summer market is where eight or nine out of 10 players, they move clubs, so we will go into the summer window with big ambitions of strengthening the team.

“We know there’ll be more movements, we know there’ll be more opportunities, so the plans are already drawn up.”

In the meantime, Carlos Raphael Moersen will start work as director of football operations at Spurs ahead of the summer transfer window after leaving Man City, but he’s not the replacement for Paratici.

Tottenham’s decision to continue with two sporting directors is said to not be a reflection on Lange’s ability to recruit effectively, but is more a reiteration in the club’s belief in that particular structure.

Should we expect Brentford chief to join Spurs?

Johan Lange’s explanation for the January transfer window failure will not be good enough to appease the fans. As such, Tottenham simply must get the next appointment absolutely spot on.

This is pure speculation, but would it be so surprising if Brentford’s Phil Giles were to make the move to North London? Giles has been with the Bees since 2015, and his role in helping the club get promoted to and become established in the Premier League cannot be overstated.

If Frank is to remain at Spurs beyond the summer, it would make a lot of sense to pair him up with a former colleague. If he’s going to be relieved of his duties, however, the Giles link-up might not be the one for Tottenham.
