Tottenham Hotspur’s second team secured a victory over the U21s just hours after the first XI were held to a 1–1 draw against Getafe.
The Premier League 2026/27 season is not too far from kicking off, with a little under two weeks left before Spurs face Brentford at the Gtech Stadium.
But with little time left, the focus has been on pre-season preparations, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side getting as many minutes under their belt to build up fitness.
On Saturday, 8 August, the Tottenham first team were involved in a 70-minute behind-closed-doors match against Getafe.
Conor Gallagher was the goalscorer as the two sides settled on a 1-1 draw at the Hotspur Way training centre.
Tottenham second XI beat U21s in friendly
However, it is not just the first team to have had a run-out, with Lilywhite Rose now confirming that the second team of Spurs and the U21s were also involved in a friendly game.
The two sides came up against each other, and it was the Tottenham second side that came out victorious, beating the U21s 2-1 on Wednesday evening.
Spurs Second XI was: Dubravka; Tye Hall, Danso, Senesi, Souza; Bentancur, Fernandes, Sarr; Ajayi, Scarlett, Yang.
It was goals from Pape Matar Sarr and Damola Ajayi that proved enough for the second XI last night, while Tyrese Hall grabbed the only goal for the U21s.
However, the U21s also gave a really good account for themselves, with Donley hitting the post, and were unfortunate to come away with the loss.
Manor Solomon absent as Spurs agree £7m deal
Interestingly, Manor Solomon, who has been a big part of Tottenham’s pre-season games this summer, was not a part of either friendly game on Wednesday.
Spurs Web revealed last night that West Ham United and Tottenham have finally agreed on a £7million deal for Solomon.
The Israel international is viewed as Summerville’s replacement following his move to Saudi Arabia, and his absence on Wednesday suggests that a transfer could be very close.
