Tottenham hero set to move away from the club today

Tottenham Hotspur look to be bidding farewell to a second senior star this transfer window, following the release of Michel Vorm earlier this month.

Next in line is Fernando Llorente, as his contract officially expired today (30.06.19), and there seems to be no word of a new deal on the table (TransferMarkt).

Llorente was perhaps the most unlikely of heroes for Tottenham last season, especially during periods in which Harry Kane was out injured with ankle ligament issues.

Despite barely featuring in his first season, Llorente came into the first team and engraved his name into the hearts of the Spurs faithful.

The majority of the former World Cup winner’s famed moments came in the Champions League, as Spurs qualified for their first ever final in the competition.

It is safe to say that without Llorente, this simply would not have been possible. The Spaniard scored in the round of 16 against Dortmund, in the quarter-finals against City, and set up the winner in the semis against Ajax.

Thanks for the memories, Fernando!
