Tottenham Hotspur announce the departure of player on deadline day

Tottenham Hotspur fans must now wave goodbye to young Marcus Edwards as the club have confirmed on their Twitter page that he has joined Portuguese side, Vitoria, on a permanent deal.

Marcus Edwards was once the shining light in the Tottenham academy, but that light has dampened more and more with each year that has passed.

The tricky winger only ever made one appearance for Tottenham in the League Cup back in the 2016/17 season (Wikipedia).

He then had spells out on loan to Norwich City and Excelsior in the Netherlands, but failed to really hit the heights during either spell.

Edwards was a regular for England at under 17 level, but his appearances tailed off as he grew older, never making the under 21 grade.

His new club, Vitoria, ply their trade in the Primeira Liga in Portugal, and finished fifth last season.

We wish the best of luck to Marcus and it is a real shame he couldn’t make it at Spurs under Pochettino.
