Tottenham Hotspur confirm big fixture has been postponed

Tottenham Hotspur’s game against Manchester City on the 20th of April has officially been postponed due to City’s involvement in the FA Cup semi-finals. A new date for the game has yet to be announced.

With just ten games to go this season, the race for a place in the top four is incredibly tight for Spurs.

Ange Postecoglou‘s men missed a golden chance to make up ground on Aston Villa this weekend, when they lost in rather drastic fashion to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

One huge game remaining in the Premier League fixture list for Spurs is the visit of Manchester City. However, the game was lined up for the 20th of April, which is also the same weekend that FA Cup semi-final games will be played.

Spurs vs City needs a new date

It has been suspected for a while now that Spurs would need to find another date for the big clash with City. Now, with Pep Guardiola’s side advancing in the FA Cup at the weekend, it has been made official that the game on the 20th is off.

A statement on the club’s website reads: “We can confirm that our home Premier League fixture against Manchester City, initially scheduled for Saturday 20 April, has been postponed due to our opponents’ involvement in the Emirates FA Cup.

“A new date and kick-off time for the match will be confirmed in due course.”

Immediately after the result at the weekend, The Athletic’s Sam Lee claimed that the fixture between Spurs and City would likely be rescheduled for a date nearer the end of the season. It is suggested the City game would become the penultimate fixture for Spurs this term.

That final week will be pretty intense, but thankfully the City game will likely be sandwiched between games against Burnley and Sheffield United. By that point, both those sides will probably be relegated and have nothing to play for.
