Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed the departure of one of Thomas Frank’s assistant coaches following interest from the MLS.
Tottenham Hotspur have been going through changes both on and off the pitch, with managerial and board-level adjustments reshaping the club behind the scenes over the past year.
Ryan Mason departed last summer to take up a first-team coaching role at West Bromwich Albion, while Thomas Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou and arrived alongside several members of his Brentford backroom staff.
We reported earlier this month that Spurs could be set to lose another figure from the dugout, with Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids interested in offering one of Tottenham’s assistants a full-time role.

Tottenham confirm Matt Wells departure to Colorado Rapids
Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed that Matt Wells has taken up a full-time position with MLS outfit Colorado Rapids, bringing his time in north London to an end.
The former Spurs assistant will become head coach of the American-based side, marking the first senior first-team managerial role of his career.
Wells, who worked under Ange Postecoglou and also spent a brief period on Thomas Frank’s coaching staff, departs following a two-year spell at Tottenham, during which he was heavily involved in first-team preparation and development work.
Spurs coach Matt Wells set for first senior managerial role
Colorado Rapids are securing a coach with significant experience at the top level in Europe, with Wells set to become one of the youngest managers in the division.
Despite being just 37, the former Tottenham coach has built up an extensive coaching CV, including a 100-game spell as Postecoglou’s assistant and a run of more than 20 matches working alongside Frank.
Before his move to Spurs, Wells also held assistant manager roles at Club Brugge, Fulham and Bournemouth, working closely with Scott Parker during those spells.
His first taste of leading a side came with Tottenham’s under-18s, where he oversaw 17 matches and posted an impressive points-per-game return of 2.59.
